Sundowner Krantz

Christi and CR Rains live at Sundowner Krantz, their Texas ranch overlooking the Brazos River.

Sundowner Krantz - a special place for special people.   The ranch name is a marriage of two safari terms:  "Sundowner", which is a term for the evening fireside libation, and "Krantz", which is an Afrikaner/Boer (Dutch South African settler) term for a flat-topped cliff or overlook.  The ranch is located 40 miles southwest of Fort Worth, Texas.

While on one of their African safaris, CR and CR2 were struck by the similarities between Africa and Texas, especially the resemblance of their half-mile on the Brazos River in North Texas to a krantz in the Transvaal of South Africa where they hunted. Both displayed kopjes/flat tops, acacia groves/mesquite flats, impala/whitetails, and zebra/mustangs.

Both are tempered by seasons of drought and rain, and both bask in beautiful evening sundowns. CR & CR2 invite you to share a sundowner from their overlook/krantz above the Brazos River.

During the spring and fall, Christi will offers a series of Parelli Natural Horsemanship horse camps along her half-mile stretch of the Brazos River.

Christi  [CR2], CR and "Gus" share a moment on the deck overlooking the Brazos River.
